Bible Journaling; Creating with Christ

What is bible journaling?

Bible journaling is a fun and effective way to study scripture, grow in faith, and create art, all at the same time. It’s the best of both worlds! There are all sorts of materials available to begin your creative worship, such as, pens and paint to stickers and decorative tape. You don’t need artistic talent to bible journal. There is no right or wrong way. More importantly, you are spending time with God.

Where to begin?

Decide what you want to journal in. Many are choosing to make art inside bibles. There are few companies that sell bibles for this purpose, called journaling bibles. These bibles usually have wider margins to make room for images and drawings. The pages might be a little thicker. However, others are uncomfortable with marking and covering up scriptures in the bible. For this reason, you can choose to use an ordinary spiral notebook, composition book, leather bound journal, or sketchbook.

Tea Party Bridal Shower

Last weekend I was invited to my friend, Abby’s bridal shower. We’ve been friends since middle school. We met in sixth grade homeroom. I was struggling to make new friends and too shy to speak with anyone. I passed her a note and asked if she was interested in getting to know one another. Since then, she attended all of my birthday parties and I’ve also worshiped with her at her church a few times in the past. She moved to Iowa after high school graduation and we lost touch for a little while, but recently rekindled our friendship.

A Conversation with Gunnar Esiason

I want the younger generation to know cystic fibrosis isn’t a death sentence. Your life is what you make it, especially with lung disease. If you want to be sad, then be sad. If you want to be happy, then be happy. There is no excuse not to smile or praise God for our lives. Gunnar proves we can accomplish our dreams, despite our unusual and unfortunate circumstances. So, lets listen!

Who is Gunnar Esiason?

Gunnar is the son of retired American NFL quarterback, Norman (Boomer) Esiason. He is twenty-six years old and living with Cystic Fibrosis. He is currently the director of the patient advocate program at the Boomer Esiason Foundation in Garden City, New York. Faithbox Subscription Review

I’ve been very interested in receiving a monthly religious subscription box, but my main concern was, which one? There are tons of companies out there that offer this type of package. Before I began my research, I set a budget and asked myself, what do I want to receive? Did I want books, novelty items, (coffee mugs, jewelry, writing materials) or, reading material and devotionals? I set my spending limit at thirty dollars. I knew I wanted products that would challenge me and help me grow in faith. Novelties are fun, but after a while, what do you do with all of it? I already have too many knick knacks I don’t need.

What is Faithbox?

I discovered Faithbox while browsing Hello Subscription’s list of religious and spiritual subscription services.

Faithbox is a monthly subscription service that inspires daily Christian living by helping you grow in your faith, impact your community, and discover meaningful products from companies that do good. Hosting a Creative Card Making Party

My birthday was two weeks ago, and I wanted a fun way to celebrate. I thought the perfect way to honor becoming another year older, was by doing what I love, paper crafting! I invited to my home, a few ladies from church and my sister. I really enjoy smaller, more intimate gatherings. Its less hectic to plan, and host, and gives everyone the chance to talk to each other. I recommend no more than six guests.

Fall is my favorite time of year. The colors are beautiful, and relaxing. The weather is perfect, and I fell in love with my husband on an indian summer afternoon in October. Summer is nearly over, which is why I decided the theme of my party was going to be autumn. A little early, but I’m getting ahead start.

Throw Back Thursday Journal

Is it real, Am I really twenty-six years old today? I was in high school when I first started consistently writing in a private journal. Sometimes, I wrote two times a day. I stayed awake past 1AM, listening to my computer keyboard tapping along with my thoughts, while everyone in the house was soundly sleeping. I had desires to begin a blog, but my teenage self esteem kept me from pursuing it.

I was at a writers block for my birthday post, and then, I thought of it. I have my grandma to thank, for stepping up the ladder, into her unbearably hot attic, to retrieve my bright green spiral notebook that reads, Life, Hope, and The Long Journey Ahead. These words were taken from one of my favorite novels, A Walk to Remember, by Nicholas Sparks. I paged through entry after entry and finally decided on the perfect post for today. Maybe you’ll find yourself smiling as much as I did.

I took a trip to Barnes and Noble last week, hoping to find a book teaching lettering skills. There wasn’t a wide selection to choose from, however, I did locate this fabulous book, hand lettering for relaxation, by Amy Latta. It was filled with pages full of lessons. I read through the whole thing, as soon as I arrived home. I was quite pleased with the content. She offers a variety of techniques and shows full alphabet examples of different font styles. Her step by step process is easy to follow along.
