My birthday was two weeks ago, and I wanted a fun way to celebrate. I thought the perfect way to honor becoming another year older, was by doing what I love, paper crafting! I invited to my home, a few ladies from church and my sister. I really enjoy smaller, more intimate gatherings. Its less hectic to plan, and host, and gives everyone the chance to talk to each other. I recommend no more than six guests.
Fall is my favorite time of year. The colors are beautiful, and relaxing. The weather is perfect, and I fell in love with my husband on an indian summer afternoon in October. Summer is nearly over, which is why I decided the theme of my party was going to be autumn. A little early, but I’m getting ahead start.
I kept it simple and low cost with the food. My party wasn’t until after dinner, at seven. I provided light snacks. You can serve up to four to five guests with very few fruits and vegetables. I provided a variety of four from each group. I shopped at the dollar store for festive leaf designed plates and napkins.
To satisfy everyones sweet tooth, I made cream cheese chocolate chip dip.
Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Dip Recipe:
8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1/2 cup butter
1/4 TSP. vanilla
2 TBS. brown sugar
3/4 cup confectioner sugar
3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
Beat softened cream cheese, butter and vanilla until creamy. Slowly add the sugars until they are completely blended. Stir in the chocolate chips. Serve immediately or refriderate in closed container. Serve with gram crackers or vanilla wafers.
Don’t go overboard with a large selection. My guests only drank water. I provided beverages that I usually drink, just in case there were any leftover.
Now, on to the fun part, card making!
Season of Thanks
I can’t take full credit for these cards. All of the designs I acheived were from Pinterest. I found inspiration for this first card made by Theresa on Crafting The Web. I’m really happy I was able to find similar materials to recreate this awesome design! The pumpkins I used are actually cupcake picks from Hobby Lobby. I pulled the stick out, and trimmed around the edges. I created some depth by attaching one of the pumpkins with foam adhesive squares. I stamped the wheat and season of thanks with antique linen and walnut stain distress ink.
Sending Happy Thoughts
When I saw this leaf card made by Susan, I fell in the love with the design. I knew I had to make my own. This card is quick and easy! A die cutting machine is required to make this. I rolled the front of the card through my Big Kick machine, using leaves from the fall foliage set, and stamped the greeting, sending happy thoughts, from the layered flowers stamp set. I wrapped brown plaid ribbon around the front and tied a knot.
Thinking of You
This tree card was made with Sizzix thinlits tree and bird die, but, unfortunately its discontinued. You can find similar tree dies from Spellbinders. For simple appeal, I added two staples using Tim Holtz’s tiny attacher.
All of my cards are 5 x 6.5 inches, except this one. Its 4.25 x 5.5 inches. My inspiration for this card came from Bonnie at Stamping with Klass. I love how simple this design is. The sunflower against the burlap is perfect. It’s not autumn without creating rustic!
Wooden Pumpkin Crate
Natural Raffia (optional)
Pumpkin Embellishemnt & tooth pick (optional)
The wooden crate die used in this craft is from the current catalog of Stampin’ Up! We filled our crates with small foam pumpkins. I found a mixture of pumpkins and pinecones in the fall section of Hobby Lobby. It was my husbands idea to write a price with a Sharpie pen. This cute little decoration is the perfect addition to your desk, or window sill in your kitchen.
I couldn’t let my lovely friends leave without a treat to take home! I made these mini gift bags to show my appreciation for them, taking time out of their busy lives, to spend quality time together. God has blessed me with such kind hearted women and the best sister! I filled these with hard candies, Werther’s caramels, and cinnamon apple Lipton tea bags.
A simple thank you card works just as well. Be sure to thank your guests for taking time out of their schedules to spend the day with you. Nothing beats quality time with your closest friends.
I have two card kits available. Each kit contains materials for the four autumn cards pictured above. The first two people to comment and hashtag #freefallgiveaway will receive. Open to USA residences only.
Enjoy the week ahead and smile!
